Hello! My name is Mason Anne. I am a fiber installation artist and a tattoo artist in the beautiful state of Colorado. I have always been a maker. I grew up with a love of doodling, crocheting, and finger weaving as well as rearranging furniture and creating cozy spaces. The joy of creating and learning about new art materials/ mediums has always followed me wherever life has taken me. Living in the front range, I feel very fortunate to have found an art community that continues to inspire me to learn and discover as I make new things to share with the world.
Thank you for stopping by my digital studio to learn more about my work!
In my sculpture studio, I focus on creating new art objects out of old discarded things; clothing, tablecloths, tarps, tents, hammocks, etc.… I strive to give materials a second life and form as well as hopefully foster environmental awareness in a new way. I also endeavor to bring installation and sculpture as mediums out of museums with the ultimate goal of bringing three-dimensional art into people’s living and work spaces, making them more accessible to everyone.
It's important to me that I create objects/environments of substance as well as ones that are aesthetically pleasing. Regardless of medium, the act of making generates an understanding for me that is far more complete and in-depth then text-based information. Sometimes words just don't suffice.
I have always been a doodler. I love organic, drippy, abstract shapes that hint at botanicals and other things from the natural world. I would draw for fun but never really knew what to do with them until friends started asking if they could have my drawings for tattoos. In early 2022 I decided to go get a tattoo of one of my drawings for myself but unfortunately had a terrible experience at with the tattoo artist and walked out without any ink . This sent me on a new journey of learning everything I possibly could about tattooing, the practice itself as well as the industry. Within weeks I got myself a tattoo machine and haven't put it down since.
Like most things in my life I am self-taught and community mentored and I feel so very fortunate to have such a wonderful community of tattoo artists in Colorado to learn with and from. It is super important to me that no matter where I’m working that I foster a welcoming and safe environment for all who come to get a tattoo from me. I consider it an honor that people would choose my art to live on them forever. Tattooing is truly the ultimate form of showing artists’ support and patronage and I feel very grateful to get to be part of so many humans journey!
